This is a piece I wood burned onto Baltic Birch plywood. It was a challenging surface to wood burn on and took some layering. Like most of the piece from my Impermanence collection it has some of the usual traits…nested mandalas with very few repeated symbols or geometry if any. You can see the smaller mandalas are breaking through and in some cases over shadowing parts of the larger piece. To me it is a reminder that the size of the loss can sometimes be replaced by many smaller things that can ultimately grow to shine brighter than the loss. Loss/change is difficult but it doesn’t always have to be.
The slight color change in the background is due to the lighting. This piece is also on display at the Yoga Sanctuary in South Minneapolis.
It is roughly 24 x 26” inches and I framed it with wenge wood. A very hard and beautiful dark wood…
