Here is about half of my tent setup for the Minnehaha Falls Art Fair last weekend. It was the best one so far since I started with the Edina Art Fair last June ‘24. So many engaged people curious about creations of all kind. Made a lot of connections and hopefully some interesting collaborations for over the winter. I will be at the Powderhorn Art Fair starting August 2nd and then Minneapolis Streets the week after.

This week I think I will tell you a bit about how to create a wood burned Mandala by hand. 1st I take my compasses and layout the circles as I like to start with something accurate. I sometimes texturize the wood with my grinder or my Wood Carver first. 2nd I follow over the lines with my wood burner. 3rd I add all of the detail free hand. I think it helps to create its own movement. 4th I cover the burn with 5-6 coats of a polycrylic protectant. This helps preserve the burn. 5th I cut the wood, glue it up, paint it and distress with sandpaper. Gday

This past week was the first art fair of the summer on the Fresh Art Tour. I had my art up at the Journey Inn for three days. It was great to meet so many new art lovers, artists and people in the community. There were a bunch that stopped by from last year. It was great to connect with those that came by. I am getting ready for the Minnehaha Art Fair - July 18th-20th. If you are in or near the Twin Cities, stop by and say hello. Pete Discover-Observe-Create

A photo I took from Fargo overlooking Moorhead, MN last October. I love all the shades and colors (through a hotel window btw). You can also see the asymmetrical Hjemkomst Center (in white) which houses an old Norwegian Boat. Check it out if you’re ever up there. Albums I’m listening to a lot lately. My genre labels are very general. I cannot believe the snow was about a week and a half ago. I did add 4 products to my products page (two are below) that I finally had a chance to frame since the weather has been much more cooperative. I have about another 10 more to frame as well as continuing to make more. I have a handful of Art Shows that I applied for this summer and I will post the information on which ones i will be attending on the website.

Greetings! I finally framed this one and I will be adding this one tonight to my store. I have about 10-11 more newly finished to add to the store as I frame them. Song lyric I heard this week that I love. “It doesn’t matter when you bloom. It matters that you do”. -The Secret Sisters For someone who didn’t start wood burning until a couple years ago that lyric hits home. A reminder that showed up again this week and- Sit with your emotions acknowledging them and accepting them without judgement.

Thanks to Lisa for purchasing this piece last week! Included in this work are some of my favorite Nordic Runes and the symbols for Earth’s elements. Random observation… I noticed I left my timer on my phone going for the last 4,297 hours. When I did the math that was just over 179 days. I feel bad about it but not sure why. Or, maybe that piece of char in the bottom of the oven was Banana Bread I forgot about (JK, no banana bread was harmed in this weeks update, or an update loosely based on happenings 179 days ago). Cheers! InvenioPete

A while back I mentioned I was getting a CNC machine that had the capability of wood burning (etching). This was a test piece I did last weekend. It is only 5.5”x5.5” but it enables me to do prints on wood. All the designs are mine and in most cases I used hi-res images of work I have done and run it through the machine. This gives me the ability to do what artists that draw or paint do….Prints. It will take a little while to work through the process but I will be adding these to my site and at a lower price point. Color will be an option for some.

I am getting very close to finishing this 24” x 24” circular mandala. A little shading and filling in the 8 dividers is all that is left. Name to come. It is more noble to give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses. -Dang Hammarskjold Keeping it short this time. Here is a 6” x 7” wood burned mandala by hand. Soon to be available on my web page. Things I am pondering. Is love a feeling or an effort? Do we experience each others love the way it is intended or is it something purely due to our own personal physiology. Music is geometry we experience with our ears. Four recordings I am listening to from different genres right now. Miles Davis - In a Silent Way INXS - Shabooh Shoobah Widespread Panis - Pleas Pyotr Tchaikovsky - Capriccio Italian Have a great rest of the week! Pete Inveniopete@gmail.com

This 6”x7” (unnamed) mandala I created overlooking a beach down south this last week. Framing to come. I think this is the longest it’s been either below zero and below 20 degrees. Nearly impossible to frame in that temperature. I should be able to move into a spare room in my basement the week of the 23rd to frame the 8-9 mandalas I have finished the last two months. This quote has got me more active the more I think of it. “Some of us need to move to think”. It makes me wonder if how one moves impacts thought… Pete Discover-Observe-Create

Greetings!! I ended up adding four more 5” mandalas to this piece in the background. Roughly 9”x20” this piece highlights the texturing of the wood with my grinder, added color, notable symbols (Nordic Runes) and a variety of engaging geometry. Framing to follow. This item, “Epiphany”, will be available soon! I bid everyone peace, hope, vitality and love! Discover - Observe - Create Pete

Here is another version of my compassed based wood burning. Again, all done by hand. I have put many of the Nordic Runes in the one circle. Working on this piece reminds me of just continuing to put one foot in front of another and before you know it you are in a new and interesting place. I like to look at the detail and then pan out and see how the detail becomes its own shading. A thought I am pondering: Transformation and change don’t always happen when you want but can when you are ready and aware… Discover - Observe - Create Invenio Pete

Greetings! I have finished four more wood burned mandalas, just waiting for the temperature to break 25 degrees and I can get back in the garage to cut the frames. Below is one of them - I distressed the wood with my grinder before I started burning this one so there are some peaks and valleys that give this one some interesting depth. To go with the depth I included the symbols for forgiveness, compassion, balance, creativity, gratitude and perspective….things I try to work on weekly. Here is a piece that I am almost done with. I’m thinking of naming it “Adapt and Evolve”. You’ll see 3 open circles I have yet to complete. Before I started wood burning this one I used my grinder to texture the wood. When you drag your hand across it you can feel the waves in the wood. I will be adding this to my product list once I complete it. I will leave it unframed with the option to have it framed if one desires. Quote I am pondering: “You cant talk your way out of problems you behaved your way into”. Discover - Observe - Create Invenio

Greetings! Here is an un-framed 5”x7” wood burning of something from my “make something less detailed and a lower price point collection”. I have around 10 so reach out if you find it appealing. I can frame it if you like. I am selling these for $30. I am putting it on my product page tonight. This week I am reminding myself to take time to breathe and notice something new around your home, neighborhood, city or beyond. Who knows maybe it can help you explore your artistic side. Greetings! In light of the end of the year approaching I wanted to thank everyone that support my work from my first art fairs this summer to the exhibits this fall. I am looking forward to meeting more artists and art lovers in ‘25. Also, I have completed this runner platter/charcuterie board (24”x7”). Made out of walnut and wenge it would be a nice accent to anyone’s decor.

Continuing my quest for 65 original wood burned by hand new pieces by summer ‘25! I have also been capturing most of the items I burn electronically and will be starting a “print” series hopefully sometime in January. I am working on agreements with some connections at the makers society to get me up to speed on the CNC machines. This will help me keep up with demand much like artists do when they offer prints of their originals. Don’t forget to ask me about custom work like Milestone Mandalas. Thanks for stopping by the shop! Discover-Observe-Create
